Greenhouse

greenhouse

Greenhouse Garden Gardening is one of the country’s most popular hobbies, so operating a greenhouse garden is just a logical extension. A greenhouse garden is primarily meant to extend the growing season of prized crops and plants. Horticulture fans should be enthusiastic about greenhouses, too, because it allows them to grow plants and flowers all season long, which can then be brought into the house. A greenhouse garden can be built cheaply or expensively, with plastic or glass, and look attractive or simply utilitarian. After choosing a great location for a greenhouse garden, you can build one yourself by ordering a greenhouse kit from any number of popular manufacturers. These kits are do-it-yourself projects and can be as complicated or simple, or as large or small, as is desired.

Aquaponics

aquaponics

Aquaponics is a modern way of approaching farming. In contrast to traditional farming, in aquaponics, you only need water and fish in order to have healthy food on your table each and every day. Nowadays, aquaponics gardening system is gaining interest worldwide as more people are turning towards locally grown food. The food grown in an aquaponics system is also produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. Many gardeners use aquaponics as a form of a hobby to grow food in an enjoyable way. While for others this is a primary or supplementary source of income.

Hydroponics

hydroponics

Hydroponics is an exploding industry that has yet to reach its full potential. The use of hydroponics broadens the ability to garden in small spaces where adequate land is scarce and in arid or barren conditions not conducive to propagation. Hydroponics is gardening without soil. In hydroponic gardening systems, plants are placed in a growing medium and nutrients are provided directly to the roots. Many people are surprised that plants don't require soil to live, but soil can sometimes be a very inefficient growing medium. Plants expend a great deal of energy growing root systems so they can search the soil for the water and nutrients they need to survive. By providing constant and readily available nutrition, hydroponics allows plants to grow up to 50% faster than they do in soil.

Soil-Growing

soilgrowing

Soil is a vital part of our environment. It allows plants to grow, holds and cleans water, recycles nutrients and provides a home for a multitude of organisms on Earth. Without soil, we wouldn’t be able to grow any crops – with the exception of hydroponics – and in turn, have any food on our tables. “Healthy” soil can be defined as one that is a home for a multitude of organisms – for example, bacteria, amoebae, insect larvae, earthworms, etc. Most of these organisms – big and small – are an essential part of enhancing the nutrients that stimulate plant growth. We’ve already mentioned that soil plays a major role in the development and life of your crops

Floriculture

floriculture

Floriculture, or flower farming, is a discipline of horticulture concerned with the cultivation of flowering and ornamental plants for gardens and for floristry, comprising the floral industry. The development, via plant breeding, of new varieties is a major occupation of floriculturists. Floriculture crops include bedding plants, houseplants, flowering garden and pot plants, cut cultivated greens, and cut flowers. As distinguished from nursery crops, floriculture crops are generally herbaceous. Bedding and garden plants consist of young flowering plants (annuals and perennials) and vegetable plants. They are grown in cell packs (in flats or trays), in pots, or in hanging baskets, usually inside a controlled environment, and sold largely for gardens and landscaping. Pelargonium ("geraniums"), Impatiens ("busy lizzies"), and Petunia are the best-selling bedding plants. The many cultivars of Chrysanthemum are the major perennial garden plant in the United States. Flowering plants are largely sold in pots for indoor use. The major flowering plants are poinsettias, orchids, florist chrysanthemums, and finished florist azaleas. Foliage plants are also sold in pots and hanging baskets for indoor and patio use, including larger specimens for office, hotel, and restaurant interiors. Cut flowers are usually sold in bunches or as bouquets with cut foliage. The production of cut flowers is specifically known as the cut flower industry. Farming flowers and foliage employs special aspects of floriculture, such as spacing, training and pruning plants for optimal flower harvest; and post-harvest treatment such as chemical treatments, storage, preservation and packaging. In Australia and the United States some species are harvested from the wild for the cut flower market.

Outdoor Gardering

gardening

Many of us revel in the joys of gardening, throwing ourselves into the colours and scents of nature as soon as the sun peaks through the clouds. Getting our hands into the dirt and digging, snipping, and pulling is something many of us look forward to, or if not much else enjoy the rewards of after. There is so much to gain from gardening, whether you’re an amateur who enjoys the odd bit of a tidy up around the garden every now and then or someone who dedicates great time and effort to creating their dream garden. In fact, there’s probably more to gain than you’ve ever realised…

Aquaculture

aquaculture

Aquaculture or fish farming accounts for over 50% of the world market for fish products. As global populations continue to increase, wild populations of commercially captured fish can no longer support this demand. Aquaculture provides an efficient means of protein production. In the US great strides have been taken by the industry to insure best management practices for the sustainability, consistency, economic feasibility, food safety, and environmentally friendly ways for farmed fish and shellfish production.

Animal husbandry

animal-husbandry

Animal husbandry helps us in providing proper feed, proper shelter and protection against diseases to the domestic animals. Thus, animal husbandry helps in proper management of the domestic animals. Animal husbandry helps us in developing high yielding breeds of various domestic animals through cross breeding. Thus, animal husbandry increases the availability of various food products such as milk, eggs and meat, which are obtained from domestic animals. Animal husbandry helps in raising the living standard of farmers. As a result of higher production of animal products, the income of farmers increases. Animal husbandry helps in systematic disposal of animal wastes. Thus, it helps in maintaining healthy environment.
